The Veterans Benefits Banking Program (VBBP) is a partnership initiative designed to help Veterans, beneficiaries, caregivers, and survivors receive and manage their Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) benefit payments securely and efficiently through direct deposit into low-cost checking or savings accounts at participating institutions.

Who is Eligible?
VBBP is available to any Veteran, beneficiary, or caregiver receiving VA monetary benefits. To participate, you simply enroll your benefit payments via direct deposit with a participating financial institution.

How is VBBP different from regular direct deposit?
VBBP works with participating banks and credit unions to help Veterans receive their VA benefits through safe, reliable direct deposit accounts. The program itself does not change how direct deposit works; it simply connects Veterans with vetted financial institutions offering accounts that meet VA standards for access, security, and affordability. 
How do I open an account with AmeriChoice through VBBP?
To open an account, Veterans can choose AmeriChoice from the list of participating financial institutions on the VBBP website and follow the steps to open an eligible account. Once the account is active, Veterans can update their VA payment information to route benefits to AmeriChoice.
What products and services can I use with VBBP?
VBBP does not offer its own products. Veterans who select AmeriChoice can use the standard accounts and services AmeriChoice provides—such as checking, savings, online banking, and debit access—depending on eligibility and account requirements.
Does VBBP help with financial education and fraud prevention?
Yes. VBBP offers educational materials to help Veterans understand financial basics, avoid fraud, and protect their benefits. Participating financial institutions may also offer their own financial education resources.
Do I need to be a member of AmeriChoice to use VBBP?
Yes. Veterans who choose AmeriChoice will need to open an AmeriChoice account and meet membership eligibility requirements. Once membership is established, VA benefits can be deposited into the chosen account.
How do VBBP partnerships help Veterans compared to standard banking?
VBBP ensures Veterans have access to financial institutions that meet VA expectations for safety, affordability, and direct deposit reliability. The program also connects Veterans with educational resources that may not be available through all standard banking channels.
