Mortgage Q&A with Vicki

At AmeriChoice, we’re always looking for ways to help members better their financial situation and reach their goals.  One topic that always seems to be on member’s minds is mortgages.  How to apply, what to expect and what happens when you’re ready to make an offer on your dream home?  We sat down with our Mortgage Originator, Vicki Mardis to answer some commonly asked questions.

  • How do I get pre-approved for a mortgage?

That’s easy!  Just go to my website  www.americhoicemtg.org/VickiMardis  and click on Pre-Qualification and provide me with your information.

  • How long does the pre-approval process take?

The process varies based on the type of financing you’re looking for (and sometimes the complexity of your situation).  However, in most cases, a pre-qualification can usually be completed within 1 business day.  Once the pre-qualification is complete, you would simply provide proof of your income and assets to your loan officer to review.  Once that is complete, a pre-approval letter can be issued.

  • What documents do I need to submit?

In most cases, you will need the following items: most recent 30 days paystub, most recent 2 years of W-2’s and/or 1099’s, and bank statements.  For those who are self employed or whose income is commission based, you will need to submit the most recent 2 years of federal tax returns.

  • What do I need to do when I’m ready to make an offer on a house?

When you’ve found your house, meet with your realtor to write up your offer.  When you submit your offer, remember to include your pre-approval letter.  In today’s market, sometimes there are multiple bids on the same house.  Having that pre-approval letter shows that your application has already been reviewed and you qualify for the loan.  That pre-approval letter can help bump your offer to the top of the pile.

If a mortgage is something you’re thinking about, but you still need a little more time to prepare, AmeriChoice offers a Home Savers Club.  It works like a traditional club account, and once you’re ready to get a mortgage, you get $300 off of closing costs with an AmeriChoice mortgage.

If you already have a mortgage, but are looking to refinance we have you covered!  Over the next few weeks, Vicki will be reaching out to members who are good candidates for a mortgage refinance.  If your mortgage is with another company, feel free to contact Vicki for further information about refinancing through AmeriChoice.

Vicki likes to remind everyone that while today’s lending world can be more complex and everyone’s situation is different, she’s here to help!  “Whether you have some minor credit issues, or you’re just starting a new job, you’re a first time home buyer, or you’re looking to find your forever home, I’m here to help you achieve your dream of homeownership!”
